More Channels & Modalities

The standard configuration of the NeXus-32 offers 24 channels of EEG (true DC) including SCP (slow cortical potential) with an additional 8 channels for all auxiliary modalities. Thereby it is not only a full QEEG system, but a truly multi-modal system. Ideal for QEEG, neurophysiological research as well as clinical applications and ERP.

The standard configuration of the NeXus-32 supports:

●  24 uni-polar channels of EEG  (DC-EEG & SCP)

●  4 bi-polar EXG channels for EMG, ECG, or EOG

● 3 Auxiliary channels for Respiration, BVP, SC/GSR and Temperature in any combination.

●  1 Digital channel for Oximetry and 1 trigger input (for ERP and EP)

Other configurations: The NeXus-32 can (on special request) be ordered with different configurations, like 24 bi-polar EMG (EXG) channels instead of 24 uni-polar EEGs, or a full set of 32 uni-polar EEGs.  It could also be configured with 32 Auxiliary channels for any combination of the sensors mentioned above.  Please contact us for details on the availability of other non-standard configurations.

 
More Precision

Not only does the NeXus-32 deliver more versatility than every other system available, it handles each task with unmatched speed and precision.

● Through 32 independent 24-bit AD converters you get higher bandwidth, more dynamic range (over 100,000 microvolts) and better resolution.

● The NeXus-32 has been designed with a 1Khz trigger input that clinicians can use to digitally record events. (NeXus32 is prepared for event related potentials and evoked potentials)

Advantages of 24 bit:: Some signals like skin temperature or skin conductance and also EMG amplitude will not always be resolved very well by 12-14 bit systems. Where these signals may flatline on others systems, the NeXus-10 still shows activity. Micro-physiological changes of for instance 1/10000th degree celsius temperature can still be resolved by NeXus-32's ultra high 24 bit resolution. 24 bit resolution also has the advantage that the full DC range is available for monitoring (including SCP's) while the EEG is recorded.

Built-in Electrode check:: before and during a session (without interruption) the electrode can be checked for the quality of connection to the skin. Instead of using a impedance check which interferes with the EEG signals, NeXus-32 uses DC offset checking which is done online and does not interfere with the signals.
 
Less Artifact and Noise

As with the NeXus-10 and NeXus-16, the NeXus-32 uses our special carbon coated cables in combination with active shielding. This implies that notch filters (50/60Hz) are not required anymore, movement artifact is virtually absent and noise levels are lower than with non-shielded cables. When using EEG caps (for QEEG or brain mapping) each individual EEG channel has it's own active shield from the system up to the very end of the electrode-cup. For this price/performance ratio, that is quite unique. Most 16-32 EEG channel systems use single wire cables without active shielding, leading to movement artifacts and increased 50/60 Hz noise. NeXus-32 amplifier noise is very low by design.

No notch filters: which implies that for EEG and EMG the full range from DC to about 800 HZ is available without distortion or loss of signals in the lower frequency ranges.

 
More Sensors

The NeXus-32 supports a wide and expanding series of physiological sensors that offer higher precision and more modalties than most other systems on the market. NeXus-32 can measure electrophysiological signals at high speed (EEG/EMG/ECG/EOG etc.) up to 2048 samples/sec. In addition to that  it can record auxiliary sensors in flexible configurations that you define within the software.

Current Electrophysiological signals that are supported:

EEG, DC-EEG and SCP (Slow cortical potentials). Hardware is ready for ERP's.

EMG (surface) for both raw EMG signals up to 1 Khz and rms Amplitude signals

ECG/EKG (high dynamic range and up to 2048 samples/sec)

EOG (True DC Electro-Oculography)

EDR (DC skin potentials)

Auxiliary sensors:

Respiration (abdominal and thoracial)

Blood Volume Pulse (BVP/PPG) for relative vasodilation/vasoconstriction and HRV

Oximetry. (relative saturation of oxygen in the blood)

SC/GSR, Skin Conductance, very high resolution up to 1/10000 micro-siemens resolution

Skin Temperature. Very high resolution up to 1/10000th of a degree celsius

Force Sensor. Available in ranges from 0-50,0-500 and 0-5000 newton.

Applications & QEEG functionality

The NeXus-32 is shipped with a special extended version of BioTrace+ that supports up to 32 EEG channels, support neuromapping (brain-mapping) and features QEEG data export built-in. EEG data can be exported to several standard EEG formats and imported into QEEG software solutions for further analysis, like SKIL, EureKa (Novatech) and in the future also NeuroGuide.

Clinical applications: all the biofeedback and neurofeedback applications that the NeXus-10 supports are also included in the NeXus-32 hardware and software (BioTrace). NeXus-32 is capable of the same clinical applications as NeXus-10.

ERP: The BioTrace+ software for NeXus-32 supports basic event related potential functions (such as for the P300) with programmable audio and visual events in single stimulus or oddball paradigms. Dual screen mode on a single computer is included. Internal software and external hardware stimulus events are supported. (trigger input)

 
More Flexibility for Researchers

The NeXus-32 is configurable in terms of sensors, software, drivers and interfacing.

Researchers often ask us if they can interface their own software to the NeXus-32. The answer is YES! If you agree to sign a 1 page NDA (for non-commercial use) we will provide you with the information you need to read real time data into your own software. There are four options:

● Interface your software to output files generated by NeXus-32 & BioTrace+ (real-time)
● Develop your own DLL and integrate it into BioTrace+
● Develop your own BlueTooth/USB interface to the hardware.
● Export the (offline) session data from BioTrace+ into standard ASCII, EDF or other file formats. (compatible with Excel, Matlab, Statistica, etc.)

Note:: Writing your low level software drivers is only recommended for advanced users or experienced software developers.
